Our Challenge:

Our Generosity:
We have demonstrated our strong support of our Chalice community throughout this pandemic:
The pandemic demonstrates our resilience:
At the start of 2020, Chalice was entering an exciting new era of growth and organizational maturity, as we enjoyed the many blessings of our new multipurpose building and prepared to celebrate our new playground. After years of inadequate space, we now had space for our Sunday morning religious education classes, meeting space for our many groups and committees, and rooms that could be affordably rented to local nonprofit groups. Our vision was to become a community center for progressive values in Inland North County.
Then the pandemic hit, turning all that was familiar and routine upside down. In the past two years, Chalice's place in our lives has felt more crucial than ever. Sunday worship, support groups, and opportunities for fellowship all moved quickly online, helping us stay connected while we have had to stay apart.
During this time, we have anticipated a need to use monies from our reserves fund.
With strong pledge commitments, we can reduce our dependency on reserves funds and return to a strong financial footing.
Our Spiritual Home:
Now, at last, we are entering an exciting new time of rebuilding our congregational life. Worship meets in-person and livestreams for those at home. We are learning new technologies for offering multiplatform meetings in the Hub. We continue to prioritize caution and safety while we experience the joy of being able to be together in new ways.
Whether we are meeting online, in-person, or both, being able to meet together and express our love brings joy and new ideas for going forward. By strengthening our giving again this coming fiscal year, we will be well positioned to continue our post-vaccine congregational life on a solid financial foundation.

Our Generosity:
We have demonstrated our strong support of our Chalice community throughout this pandemic:
- Pledging increased 12% from FY 2020 to FY 2021, as Chalice congregants stepped up to the challenge of supporting the congregation in tumultuous times.
- Pledging stayed steady from FY 2021 to FY 2022, as our congregants demonstrated their commitment to our community while the pandemic entered a second year.

During this time, we have anticipated a need to use monies from our reserves fund.
- In FY21, we projected that we would need $26,000 from reserves by the end of the fiscal year. Due to diminished spending during the pandemic, combined with grant money and the government's paycheck protection program (PPP), we did not end up needing to spend from reserves.
- This current year, FY22, we have projected needing $16,000 from reserves. We won't know until the end of the fiscal year how much we will actually spend, but it seems likely we will spend from reserves this year.
With strong pledge commitments, we can reduce our dependency on reserves funds and return to a strong financial footing.
